Licensed Business Buyer (Dealer, Non-Dealer): Buyers that hold the appropriate license for purchasing vehicles in their province may register by completing the online form and submitting the necessary documents. If you’re unsure, contact Buyer Services to see if you have the appropriate license.

License Requirements from outside Canada: If you are located outside Canada, you can only register as a Licensed Business Buyer if you have a license for an automotive-related business such as a dealer, body shop, repair facility, import/export, trading vehicles, or trading of spare parts. With this license, you can bid at IAA locations where you meet all provincial licensing requirements.

Public Buyer Registration (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan & Manitoba only): Individuals without a Dealer License or automotive-related business who wish to buy in provinces permitting public purchasing can register by filling out the online form and submitting the required documents. To qualify as a Public Buyer, you must be a resident of one of the four provinces above.

Note: Public Buyers should confirm that a vehicle they wish to bid on is located at a Branch open to public buying. Buyers can check the ‘Show only Available to Public’ filter on the Advanced Search page at ca.iaai.com.

To register as a Licensed Buyer, you must also submit your Business License

      License Requirements within Canada:
You can register as a Licensed Business Buyer with a Dealer or automotive-related business license. If you do not have an automotive-related business, you can still register as a Public Buyer if you reside in one of the four provinces that permits public buying.

License Requirements from Outside of Canada: If you are located outside Canada, you can only register as a Licensed Business Buyer if you have a business license for an automotive-related business such as:

      • Dealer

      • Exporter
      • Rebuilder
      • Repair Facility
      • Scrapper
      • Body Shop

      Foreign Business License:

      • Automotive-Related Business License
      • Notarized English Translation of Business License (if the original is in a different language other than Spanish and unless the license is already translated into English by the issuing government on the backside or same side as the original language.)

      Step 4 – Registration Payment

A registration fee is required to submit your application. You can pay for your registration with a credit card online. Registration fee is based on Buyer type:

      • Public Buyer (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan & Manitoba) registration allows you to bid at facilities with inventory available to the public. The cost of registration for a Public Buyer account is $200 per year.
      • Licensed Business Buyer registration allows you to bid at all locations where you meet licensing requirements:
        • Licensed Business Buyer (Dealer): Registration fee $100 for the first year
        • Licensed Business Buyer (Non-Dealer): Registration fee $200 for the first year.
